The Thames Estuary is the UK’s number one growth opportunity.
Led by government-appointed Envoy Kate Willard OBE, the Thames Estuary Growth Board is driving fair growth and investment across South and East London, South Essex, and North and East Kent. Our focus is on tackling systemic inequalities, creating opportunities, and unlocking the region’s potential.
The Estuary spans 17 local authority areas: Barking, Basildon, Bexley, Canterbury, Castle Point, Dagenham, Dartford, Gravesham, Greenwich, Havering, Maidstone, Medway, Newham, Rochford, Southend-on-Sea, Swale, Thanet, and Thurrock. Its excellent transport links, proximity to London, and thriving river make it a hub for business and innovation.
Working in partnership with government, local authorities, and industry leaders, we are delivering and driving transformational projects across key sectors, including creative industries, net-zero and hydrogen power, river freight, data centres, higher education, housing, and infrastructure.
