Bericote is one of the most active developers of large-scale distribution centres in the UK, having worked with high-profile blue-chip companies, including Rolls-Royce, Ocado and ASDA.

Running for 13 years and continually expanding in size and expertise, they compete with international companies thanks to their flexibility and agile nature.

They are currently developing a new distribution centre in Dartford for a world-leading online company. Transforming a decommissioned power station into c. 97 net acres of prime development land, their aim is to achieve the green repurposing of brownfield sites.

Green aims and achievements

  • 99% of materials from the former power station have been recycled, which is unheard of.
  • Recycled material saved the equivalent of c.2 million tonnes of CO2
  • 280,000m3 of clay imported to date diverted from landfill
  • 30,000m3 of aggregate will be delivered to site by barge along the river
  • Up to 11MVA power supply
  • BREEAM Excellent rating
  • Roof ready for PV installation
  • Developed a woodland for the community and the staff.
  • Saved 16,000 tonnes of carbon

Pushing the boundaries at every aspect, they have come up with new initiatives to minimise their impact and carbon footprint, including a green roof, beehives, and they are event reintroducing eels into Littlebrooke Creek.
