Creative Sector Investment

The Thames Estuary Production Corridor is a significant programme which unites east London, North Kent and South Essex to create a world-class centre for creative and cultural production: leading global innovation, creating new jobs, developing local talent and supporting the rapid growth of the creative economy.

By 2050 it will deliver 50,000 jobs and generate £3.7bn GVA through a series of investable propositions and opportunities throughout the supply chain.

New development sites are being identified for investment into the sector, with targeted analysis and delivery plans for both fashion and screen-based industries, to support a series of flagship investment opportunities.

Current creative sector opportunities

Creative Estuary actively promotes inward investment and inclusive development and have produced tools to help investors, businesses and developers to support their vision for the Estuary:

  • Businesses in the creative sector looking for work space in the Thames Estuary can use the Creative Estuary Property Portal to steer their business to where it needs to be.
  • The Creative Estuary prospectus sets out creative sector opportunities to investors, developers and creative industry businesses interested in the region.
  • The Creative Estuary Business Directory helps you find creative industry businesses within the Estuary. From designers and architects to film studios and software developers, plus their all-important supply chains.

Opportunities will be regularly updated as they evolve.

Investment in the creative sectors will support and be supported by our work unlocking growth in sectors such as hydrogen, infrastructure, digital and logistics.

Our support for the creative sector

Thames Estuary Growth Board’s work is about unlocking the vast potential of the Thames Estuary, the UK’s best growth opportunity. The region has the potential to create 1.3 million jobs and add £190 billion to the nations’ economy by 2050.

The Production Corridor is central to driving growth in the Thames Estuary. We are supporting partners to create a world-leading region for arts and creativity.

We supported ‘Estuary 21’ – the Thames Estuary Festival of arts and culture – a major Production Corridor commission delivered by Estuary-based arts organisations, Metal (South Essex) and Cement Fields (North Kent) on behalf of Creative Estuary , and arguably the biggest festival in Europe of its kind in 2021.

The Growth Board is supporting the Production Corridor to develop a series of investable propositions and to promote a number of arts-related projects in the Estuary region.

Investment in the creative industry is one of the many sectors of growth in this exciting region.

We are committed to unlocking this through good, green growth and making this the cleanest, most productive Estuary in the world. Read about our plans in the Green Blue.
