Let me tell you why Ground Control is amazing

11th June 2021

There are many brilliant businesses in the Thames Estuary demonstrating their commitment to sustainability and good green growth.

Recently I was fortunate to catch up with Ground Control, leading grounds maintenance and landscaping business and Estuary Visionary.

They are fantastic on all fronts and sharing their expertise to help driving up the positive environmental impact of client’s projects. Let me tell you in a nutshell why Ground Control is amazing:

Leading green business

  • Achieving carbon neutral status themselves – a leader for the grounds maintenance industry.
  • Helping clients including Tesco, Thames Water and Highways England, reach their sustainability goals from sustainable woodlands, to creating biodiverse habitats and enriching road verges.
  • Setting up the Evergreen Fund to allow the business to reinvest 5% profits back into environmental initiatives.

Best company to work for

In May 2021, Ground Control were recognised in three categories in the Best Companies List, the UK’s most respected annual analysis of workplace engagement.

  • One of the best 100 large companies across the entire country
  • East of England’s 75 ‘Best Companies to Work for’
  • In the top 5 companies working in the business services sector.

Recognised by Queen Elizabeth II

Ground Control have also achieved the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation, for the development and launch of a time saving resource management system, that simplifies risk and compliance aspect of even very complex projects.

This is the second time they have been recognised with this high accolade in five years, and is testament to how they are looking for excellence in all areas of the business.

I am delighted that Ground Control have joined us as an Estuary Visionary. This free scheme is open to businesses of any size, in any sector that is reducing their environmental impact.
